My New Addiction…

Unbelievable… and I’m not talking about handbags!!

For the past few months, 4 months to be exact, I have started to exercise regularly.. When I say regularly, I mean everyday… Sometimes twice a day when I have the time!! The only days I don’t work out is when I’m on call or I had too much exposure to gas at work that made me too sleepy. Hahaha.. The rest of the days.. I’m on!

What makes me change?

I’m under a lot of stress lately and my body mechanism when I’m stressed up is to shop and eat!! Hahahaha.. Sounds familiar? 😝

I will shop for clothes (because they are generally not as expensive as handbags and shoes..) and I will eat.. and since I eat so much, I have to shop for clothes again because I cannot fit into the clothes that I bought.. and the fact that I can’t fit into my new clothes makes me depressed even more… and it’s a vicious cycle!! It never ends!! πŸ˜”

Last November, after gaining so much weight, stressed up and my miscarriage.. I decided to change. I know I’m leading a unhealthy lifestyle and by the time I reach fourty.. I probably wouldn’t recognise myself..

So, I decided to change.. It was hard initially.. I was on fire literally for the first two weeks then the spirit went down. My body took time to adapt to my new routine. When I feel like giving up, I still dragged myself to the gym and just go for a brisk walk on the treadmill. Nothing hardcore on my bad gym day but at least I keep myself moving..


After a while, I’m starting to see the results, the numbers on the scale is getting smaller and I can fit into most of my clothes πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» That what drives me!

Now after 4 months, it has become a routine for me to eat clean and exercise everyday, and I feel bad if I skipped a day! Never thought that day would come, eh? 😝

  2. Hi Assalamualaikum Dr Halina.
    Do you hire a Personal Trainer? Or you just follow some routine from the net? I badly need to start work out since I’m turning 27 this year and my weight has gained so much and it makes me get tired easily.
    Some people say it’s because of the hormones. Is it true?
    Oh btw, I’m not yet married and currently doing phd. And I do get stress easily and insomnia from time to time. It’s bad is it. 😞

    1. I understand that. When we occupied with our jobs, we tends to be so stressed out and the only option to release stress is by eating or shopping or both! Hahaha.

      You can do it. You can try by start to download some apps and do it everyday. Just like dr halina did. To start is actually the hardest thing to do. Once u start u can feel it. But start slowly but doing something. Try to eat properly. (:

      I gained so much weight in a year due to stress ar work but now I already lost 3kg in a month and trust me its all bout your mindset actually. There are times when u are tired and you want to give up. But hey…its a journey! Our journey.

    I believe if we stick to a routine 40days, we’ll get use to it and wont skip doing it.

Assalamualaikum doc halina..your story same goes with me..stressed up with job,unhealthy lifestyle,eat more n more without exercise n I was miscarriage twice last year sad doct..this year 2016 I need to change my lifestyle to exercise properly without skipped a day..and I’m also scared miscarriage happening again..doct,I pray may Allah set give us another baby yg diberkati oleh-Nya..Aminn…

  7. miscarriage? never knew it happened to u doc. May all in good hands now since u are so actively back into the routine. I too was depressed when my hormones are all haywired after my miscarriage in Feb2014. In order to put things straight my physician advice me to workout first before proceed with any hormone treatment. Then I was all up for any challenges be it zumba, bodycombat, circuit training and everything, untill i was diagnose of being pregnant again hihi That was Feb2015. Took me a year to fix myself. My BMI, bodyfat and so on. Alhamdulillah gave birth to my 1st boy last September and now learning to become a wiser mother with these two monsters hahahah good job mommy here! we need to keep motivating one another to become healthy so we can manage our family well. Keep up ur good sharing doc! Now all the fat from 2014 after the DnC all vanish until now alhamdulillah. Recovered and good loss of all the 2014-2015 baby fats too ^_^

  8. Same goes as just that i was too obsessed with exercise thing and lost more than 15kg since last ramadhan due it. Now i’m trying hard to re-gain weight back as i look like papan already 😭! Anyway doing exercise is so much fun and it hard to stop once we made it a routine.go for it doctor until u reach your target number on the scale!
