Planning and Planners

Believe it or not.. It’s already October.

Fuhhh… Time really flies, huh.. But do you know what that means?

That means we are almost at the end of the year..

End of the year means new planner!! (or organizer or diary!! Whatever you call it!) Yay!!

Yup, that is my guilty pleasure.. (besides handbags and shoes! Hahahah..)

I’m into planners.. well, to start with, I love planning.. I’m a type of person that likes to have everything planned, written on a paper and sometimes spontaneous things can irritate me.. Haha… I have all sorts of list. Check list, shopping list, books-I-want-to-read list, bag-wishlist, recipe-to-try list.. you name it!! And the joy of ticking the check boxes… Hehe.. I know it sounds silly.. but it makes me happy :)

Speaking about planners, I have tried many kind of planners for the past years.. I’ve tried Filofax, Erin Condren, MTN.. and I love it all!

Top most is my beloved Filofax’s The Original Organiser, middle one in my MTN Blue Edition and bottom most is the Erin Condren Life Planner.. Why I have so many planners? That is because I was trying to find which one suits me the most.. I’m busy ruling my kingdom, remember? Haha..

This is my Erin Condren for 2015 which I am using for home management and family stuff.. I had the cover personalised with our family name.. Muszaphar’s Family. All family members’ schedules are here. I know there’s only 4 of us (hehehehehe..) but it is so much fun to see all organised and written down nicely.. When is my oncall day, hubsy has to be around at home… When he is outstation, I can’t be oncall… Then comes the girls’  schedule. They have morning school, iqra’ school, swimming practise, Kumon, piano lessons… We, the parents (aka the driver) have to keep track you know! Hahaha.. And house chores.. not the routine ones.. the one that you do 4 monthly or 6 monthly.. like flip the bedroom mattress, or deep cleaning the freezer…. OMG who can remember that if it’s not written down? And the most important thing.. BILLS checklist!! See! Ruling a kingdom is not easy! Haha…

So, what this mommy gotta do now?

Buy a new planner for 2016!!

I have decided to continue using Erin Condren Life Planner for 2016. Just ordered mine and I found out that they have this free shipping at the value of USD9.95 until October 31, 2015. The cost for them to ship to Malaysia via Fedex is USD19.95. Since the sale is on, it will only cost us about USD10!! Big saving considering our Ringgit value is not too good nowadays.. (but this mommy still gotta plan, right?)

Check out for more info..

Happy planning!!

P/s: This is not a sponsored post. I’m just spreading the joy and happiness of planning and shopping! ;)

Tarawikh & Little Surprise! Hint: Discount Code!

Its has been almost half of the holy month of Ramadhan. I hope all of you are coping well the usually Ramadan hectic schedule.. You know, the sahur, the fasting, catching up with tarawikh and tadarus… May Allah bless us all for our efforts. InsyaAllah..

Like previous years, my husband and I always bring our children to the masjid. When I was a kid, my parents always brought us to the mosque, even when we don’t pray, we will sit at the back trying to finish our homeworks.. Nahhh… I was just kidding, we play at the back with our masjid friends :D

So, this year, we are glad both our girls are big enough to handle themselves. That means no more rolling on the floor by the pillars. They are quite independent, easily make new friends and starting to make noise! Haha.. that part I’m not really proud of..

I just wanna share with you some of the things that I do when I bring my toddler to the masjid. These are the things that I do to make sure my girls are familiar with the environment and I feel confident leaving them playing at the back..

Bring them often to the masjid. So they will be familiar with the place, make some new friends and be comfortable with the environment.

With toddlers, I can’t pray at the front saf, not even in the middle. Just in case of emergency during solat, (like B suddenly wants to go to the toilet!!) it’s gonna be very difficult for me to get out of the saf. So what I do is, I pray at the last saf or at the side end of the saf. Not a good advice, I know but I have toddlers to take care. As long as I still get to follow the imam, I’m fine..

Carry one bag that they know it’s yours. I have one particular bag that I bring to the masjid. And they know by heart that it’s mine. Familiarity is important. So they know where to find their things in the bag while you are performing solat.

Put your bag (refer to #3) behind you (rather than in front of you). Why? So they can find you easily when you are performing solat. You’ll never know what kind of emergency these kids can have and seriously I want to avoid them from screaming “mommehhhh” out loud!

Make them occupied. I’ll bring some colouring books and colour pencil so they can do something together with their friends. I don’t give them gadgets because I’m afraid they might lost it (and I can’t concentrate during solat). Eeekkk..

Bring something for them to drink (duh.. everybody knows that!) I bring their milk and plain water along and keep it in the bag (refer to #3 again!). If they need something to drink, they can just spot that bag and dig it themselves.

Sometimes, I wear different colour telekung.. and I will tell them like a thousand times before solat.. ” Bella.. Tasha.. mommy is wearing brown telekung today! You must remember this colour because they will be many people at the masjid” Bella will say.. “OK mommy..” and Tasha will just do her whatever face! Haha.. Wearing different colour makes it easier for them to spot me among the crowd.

It’s not as simple as that bring the toddlers to the masjid. It can be embarrassing too.. The other day, Bella and Tasha were together with a few of their nursery friends, and they made their own performance of “Let It Go” while we were in the midst of our prayer. OMG! That was loud and emotional singing from them! Another day, they found someone’s umbrella and played with it in between saf. HOMAIGAWD! I was really scared if they accidentally poke someone with the umbrella.

That brings me to tips #8

Apologize profusely to the jemaah!!

So, that’s my story with B and T at the masjid.. another part of the story is about this bag…

I got mine from Gin&Jacqie. A local brand and makes a lot of functional bags and bag organizers. I used a lot of Gin&Jacqie bag organisers for most of my totes.. or otherwise, its just a black hole with too many stuff in it. Hahahha..

I like it because it is simple, not too striking with a hint of and pink! I think both B and T also can recognise this bag easily because of the pink colour! And now Gin&Jacqie is having a promotional offer for this bag!

This pretty and functional G&J canvas tote comes with the Organize Mary. That is the name of the handbag organiser that I have inside the bag. I have quite a few of this handbag organisers myself (in different colour and sizes to match my other totes!! Hahaha). I love it’s functionality, different pocket sizes and that little top handle that makes it easy when I’m changing my totes..

Probably Gin&Jacqie one day should have Organise Halina as well! Hahah…

The original price for this tote bag (RM85) and Organize Mary (RM64.50) is worth RM149.50. However, they are having a promotional discount for BarelySupermommy readers… (Yup, that’s you ladies!!!) The offer price is RM73 for both! This offer valid from July 1 until July 10th, 2015!! And you can enter SUPERM15 at the code area to redeem your discounted price on their webpage.

Why wait! July 1st until July 10th ONLY ladies!! Happy shopping!

What’s In My Bag..

I went to Putrajaya this morning but when I reached there, I got lost because I didn’t see the sign boards, it was raining heavily and my vision while driving was very poor. Suddenly I was near PICC (Hahaha.. nope, I wasn’t supposed to go there!) Called up hubs for help.. then he asked me to switch on my Waze.. I was like.. duhhh.. why didn’t I think of that earlier :D

Anyway, when I reached the place that I wanted to go, it was still raining.. I needed an umbrella. Unfortunately, I left mine at home.. (why oh why..) the only umbrella that I have in my car way B’s Pororo umbrella. Hahaha.. I can’t go to government office in Pororo umbrella right? ;) So, there I was, stucked in my car while waiting for the rain to stop…

I was bored..

So, I did this video… I wanted to try this new app.. Hyperlapse where I can speed up the video faster..

Check this out.. Its called.. “what’s in my bag..”

I use Gin&Jacqie handbag organiser to make sure my bag doesn’t look or feel like a black hole. I’m a freak when it comes to organising stuff. Haha.. You can get yours here.

I have to have my note book. I have all this note taking apps what not on my phone but sometimes I just want to be traditional. Writing down ideas / my to-do / to-buy list is still the best. I got that note book from MPH. It comes with a very good advice from the bad girl next door.. Marilyn Monroe. She said.. “It’s better to be ridiculous than to be boring” ;D

Then, my card holder where I keep whatever cards I have, like membership cards, or discount cards.. And the pen.. Of course no point having a notebook without a pen.. and lipstick. My favourite lipstick brand is NARS. I have moved on from all these Israelis supporting products. I just don’t have the heart to buy anything that supports them. Even my trustworthy SKII. Yes, I am that fanatic. Geezzzz..

Moving on to sunglasses. Must have but rarely wears it. Haha.. and my Macbook compact mirror!! ;) Hubsy saw that one online and he ordered one for me!! So thoughtful ;) Haha.. And of course, my green reusable foldable groceries bag. Just in case if I need to go for emergency groceries shopping, I can help safe the world by not using plastic bag!! Yup, keep the world green for our children!! Haha..

On the inside, facial tissue, purse and iPad Mini.. I keep many books in my iPad Mini. Easy to read and carry around..

So, there you go.. What’s In My Bag..

What’s in yours??

I don’t know about you but I always lost my notes. Especially when it is in a paper form. My notes will just magically disappear.. Haih..

But recently I found a solution! Write my notes in the iPad!! Yes, my own (ugly) handwriting where sometimes I can’t even read it myself..! I found this app in Apple Store called NoteShelf. I feel like it’s very useful for students to take notes during lectures / self-study.. You can draw, use the keypad to type or in my case, I like to write it down myself..

Please excuse the handwriting, I’m a doctor, it’s legal for me to have my own ‘font’ Haha.. And the drawing.. OMG! I’m definitely a left-brain person!

You can have as many notebook as you like and save it in this app. Or even send your notes to Evernote. (Don’t even get me started on Evernote, that is my favourite keep-all app ever!!)

I just thought this would be useful for students out there.. Give it a try!! ;)

Breast Milk Storage

All this while, I’ve been keeping my milk stock in this pre-sterelized milk bag like this!!

Really not-so-clever and not space savvy at all!!

Silly me!

Recently I have discovered a new (for-me, at least!!) way of storing my stock..

Flat on the surface.. soooo much better, I safe a lot of space in my fridge!

This fridge is like a drawer (tilt your head to your left for better view :p)

It looks more like a filing drawer in the office, arranged according to date!

Love, X

Update:: Click here if you wanna know on how long you can keep your breast milk

Overcoming My Forgetfulness

Breastfeeding sometimes can be confusing.. not in a complicated way.. but in a very simple way that makes you (in this case.. me!) feel silly!!! Sometimes I forget which breast I feed her with previously.. For those who is still new with breastfeeding.. yes, you have to alternate breast every feeding. This is to keep the milk coming.. Another little tiny things that I frequently (dulu lar) forget is when was the last feed, how long was it.. It is little things that becomes annoying when you forget.. Don’t blame me.. I’m only human :)

Initially, I had a piece of paper on my bedside table just for me to jot something down.. but another problem occurred.. I lost the paper :D

Until one fine day, while feeding Baby B and browsing iphone App Store (Yes, I love to shop even at Apple’s Apps Store) I found this app!! This is the answer to  my problems!!

Baby Log!! I tried the free version first and I love it.. It has everything that a occasionally-forgetful mommy like me needs! ;) Beside, it is in my phone..  not that I will never lost my phone (yes, I did twice) but at least the chance of me losing my phone a lot lesser that a piece of paper.. I can key in all B’s data from feeding, diaper change, sleep, play, bath, poo poo and more! The screen that you see below is an overview of B’s activity today..

In detail, when you enter the feeding page, you can add the side of the boobies (ni lar yg I slalu lupa!) time, duration. If your baby is on bottle milk, you can choose the type of milk like formula milk or breast milk, or juice etc..Even if you fed your baby both sides, you can enter the details here..

This is the page for diaper entry.. There’s also other basic entries as I mentioned above live sleep. play, bath etc..

Not just daily basis notes, you can also enter your baby’s measurement. These are the things that doctors measure during your child follow up during vaccination visits at the clinic. These numbers are quite difficult to understand unless you see it in a form of a graph. (Typical schematic doctor!!)Taddaaaa… This graph is also included in this Baby Log app!! Amazing isn’t it!! Now I don’t have to worry about forgetting B’s stuff anymore.. I just have to remember not to forget to key in the data!! ;)

Till then.. xoxo

Mommy Likes : essential baby box

I just bought this awesome, colourful baby box to make my (or my husband’s) life easier when we go outing with Baby B.. It is a (bright and colourful) container that holds a changing mat, diapers and baby wipes inside it!! I was looking for something like this to avoid another episode of “diving” into my handbags looking for stuffs when I want to change B’s diaper. Everything I need is already inside the box. In fact, I can always slip in a sample size diaper rash cream too!! Its mainly for short outing like when we go to the malls or visiting relatives.. Well, I do have a baby bag to carry all B’s stuff if needed but sometimes mommy needs to look chic too!! ;)  This baby box is cool and practical, hence the name, Essential Baby Box by!!

This is how the inside looks like.. the changing mat is folded and held with a holder. You can also slip in 2 or 3 diapers in it and also on the other side of the cover, there is an opener for your baby wipes.. This box has 2 wipes opener sides.. from the inside or the outside. Not that I have found any wipes brand that have double-sided opener but at least with this box you can either choose to access from inside or outside..

Yes, I am an organizer-freak person! Not 100% freak.. but maybe 83% ;) I love everything that’s organized and well-arranged. Owh.. another good news, this Essential Baby Box is BPA, PVC and Phthalate free and made of durable and washable materials like polypropylene. In a simple  words, it is free of the harmful chemical to our baby and easily clean..

It comes in 5 different colours.. all are eye-catching! But when I saw this one in lime green.. I’m sold!!

My Verdict: Love it!
