Milk Storage Bag

Calling all mommies.. I need help / suggestions / opinions on milk storage bags :)  As some of you might know, I’m going back to work soon, insyaAllah.. and I still insist on giving Bella my breastmilk to mixed with food once I start weaning her.. My reasons are simple.. Breastmilk is FREE :D It comes in cute ‘packaging’ and it is ever ready!! ;) So, I have started pumping out my milk to keep in deep freezer.. As a simple guidelines, I follow Rules of 3..

3 hours – if left in room temperature (19-22′C)

3 days – if left in refrigerator (0 – 4 ‘C)

3 months – if left in freezer (up to minus 18′C)

6 months – if left in deep freezer ( up to minus 20′C)  That’s quite easy to remember, right..

Ok, back to the subject, I’m still looking for my ideal milk storage bag.. So far I have tried 2 brands.. 1) LANSINOH and 2) Medela

I kinda like this LANSINOH because it is huge!! Marked capacity on the bag is 6oz (180ml) but it has a lot more storage area above it. This is because the milk will expand after frozen.. Maybe you can put up to 8-9oz per bag.. and besides, it has 2 zipper mechanism to prevent the milk from spilling. It is quite safe if you keep the milk bag in your handbag after pumping at work place.. Owh, and it’s written on the bag.. “My Mommy’s Milk”.. how cute  :)

This is Medela’s storage bag.. I’m not really a big fan of this bag because it is relatively small. Maximum capacity is only 5oz a written on the bag.. and that little space above it is just nice for the milk to expand during freezing.. and the material is quite hard, it doesn’t bend or fold easily makes it feels fragile. The only comes with single zipper mechanism.. If  didn’t zipped it properly, that’s it.. it’s just gonna spill.. There goes your liquid gold :’( The good this about this bag is it is attachable to your breast pump because of the extra hole made for it.. It is not in this picture because I threw it away. I use milk bottle to attached to my breast pump (coz it comes with the breast pump.. duhh)

I haven’t tried any other brand yet because I still have about 10 of Medela bags.. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to drop your comments.. Thank you mommies :)

More Reasons To Get Pregnant

Well, that is exactly the title of the email that my husband send to me.. This is one of his tricks to get me pregnant again!! Hahahaha.. Yes, he loves children so much and he wants 10 kids! Good luck to me!! ;) I don’t exactly know where he got this from but I personally think it is good to share with all of you..

KEMULIAAN IBU MENGANDUNG DALAM ISLAM

1. Dua rakaat solat wanita yang hamil lebih baik dari 80 rakaat solat wanita yang tidak hamil.

2. Wanita yang hamil dapat pahala puasa disiang hari & pahala ibadat dimalam hari.

3. Wanita yang bersalin dapat pahala 70 thn solat & puasa serta setiap kesakitan pada satu uratnya, Allah bagi satu pahala haji.

4. Sekiranya wanita meninggal dunia dalam masa 40 hari selepas bersalin ia dikira sebagai mati syahid. …

5. Wanita yang beri minum susu badannya kepad anaknya akan dapat 1 pahala daripada tiap titik susu yang diberikannya.

Pandai kan dia pancing I nak suruh pregnant lagi!! The truth is, I love being a mom and I wanna have as many children as I can. May Allah granted our prayers. Azam tahun baru 1433H, I wanna have another baby.. and secretly wishing for a boy this time ;) May Allah granted my do’a. Amin :)

Semoga tahun baru ini kita semua lebih diberkati Allah, dimurahkan rezeki, dipermudahkan urusan, dijauhkan kemungkaran, dilindungi dari fitnah manusia dan godaan syaitan. Amin amin ya rabbal al-amin.. :)

Maternity & Children Expo @ MidValley

OK!! We just got back from this expo! I am definitely a sucker for all this baby stuff! Hahahah.. You can get most baby stuffs in cheaper price.. Some things you can’t get it even from regular baby store :) First stop, we singgah CellSafe Stem Cells booth. We are keeping Bella’s stem cell just in case she might need it in the future for any medical reasons.. Now scientists even thinking how to make a heart out of stem cells. Better safe than sorry, y’all!! And they have huge poster of pregnant me and hubby as their backdrop. MasyaAllah.. takut tgk :D Hahahha…

In my shopping list.. (cheewahh.. ada shopping list but trust me I never stick to it!!) I have only two things.. 1) Pigeon’s baby wipes ~ lots and lots of it 2) Milk storage bags. Thats it.. I promised my husband.. “Dua jer, tak byk, then kiter gie makan..” (yeah right!!)

These are the things that I ter’bought’ at the expo :) Tak byk.. sbb perut dah lapar :D

I’m not a fan of headband for babies.. I just don’t know why.. sometimes it is too big for the head until it looks like a tumour to me!! Seriously!! Dah macam ada ketumbuhan coming out from the baby’s head.. sian tau!! But I found this one. It’s kinda cute, and colourful and it sticks to Bella’s head nicely without looking like a tumour of the head :D Terpaksa beli 3…

And of course more books for Bella.. I like cloth books where she can read and chew at the same time.. (and mommy can wash too!! :D ) This Elmo book has a lot of popping out character inside it for Bella to play with. It’s very colourful, good for her eyesights.. Murah.. trust me.. RM 10 jer.. slalu kalu tak sale.. urrrghhh…

Look what I found!! :D Bella  has never use pacifier before nor I had any intention to start her with one.. But we had to buy this one for camera purposes.. Hehhehe.. Nak ambik gambar dia with this pacifier.. Owh.. and it’s orthodontic pacifier.. meaning, it will not and not suppose to damage the gum as opposed to the regular pacifier.. This is how it looks like from side view.. It’s a vampire fang!! Why vampire.. Coz mommy is in Team Edward!! :D Yes, I’m a sucker for Twilight Saga too!! Hehhehe..

Back to my shopping list, remember I have 2 things on my list.. 1) Pigeon’s baby wipes (yg lain tanak.. tak best!) and 2) Milk storage bags..

Ok.. Pigeon doesn’t have a booth this time, so tak dpt beli.. and I forgot to buy the milk storage bags..

I didn’t get the things I wanted but end up getting some others that is not included in my shopping list :D Typical me!!

Should I go back again there tmrw..? Maybe NOT!! Enjoy shopping mommies!!

WaterBirth..

Finally Bella is out with daddy. They are at their Jiddah’s house.. and mommy has a little time to spend writing her blog (and laundry!!!) Yay!! I have a lot of request from you guys about my water birth experience.. Today I would like to share it with you.. Of course even after almost 4 months, I can still remember my first birthing experience. The only thing that I have forgotten is the pain.. I’ve forgotten about it the moment I hold my baby for the first time in my hands.. Priceless!! It all happened on July 21, 2011…         0211H : Arrived at Pantai Hospital. Yes, I was all swollen up. I looked like a hot air balloon!! Hhahahha.. Org tua2 kata kalu nak beranak.. sampai hidung pun nmpk swollen.. yes.. I was swollen up to my nose!! Ala ala smurf gitu!! :D Thats the baby daddy.. smiling up to his ears!! Sorry S, baby doesnt want to wait till July 27.. she needs to come on today ;) And mommy-to-be tgh update Twitter, Facebook and check-in at Foursquare ;) Hahahha..

I’m bored.. biler nak beranak nih?

Since I’m a doctor.. I know how to read my own CTG.. The contractions are slowly building up.. and sometimes I can see my baby’s sleeping pattern from the CTG..Adeh.. sakett!!! Try to catch my breaths in between contractions.. When I came to the hospital, my cervix opening was only 4cm.. You are allowed to go into the birth pool when cervix opening is 5cm and above.. So, thats why I’m still on the bed..

That’s the birth pool next to my bed. The water temperature is maintained at 37-38′C at all time!! The warm temperature REALLY helps in reducing the pain intensity.. and besides, you can move about inside the pool. If you feel like going out of the pool, yes you can go jalan2 in the labour room or just lie in bed for a while.. Dok lamer2 dlm tu pun kecut pulak karang :D

And that is my labour partner/coach!! Making himself comfortable.. Hahahha.. tu sah-sah tgh main game.. But he never left my side.. ok, not really my side but he was in the labour room ALL the time except when he went for prayers..  Other than that, no.. he was in the labour room throughout.. Thank you, S ;)

And these are my younger brothers who were there to help us out with things.. tukang amik gambar and video, beli food, moral support, buat lawak… Amir is the one with bright blue sweater and Arif is with dark blue shirt.. Thank you to both of you.. KakNa loves you both!!!If you noticed, I didn’t have any intravenous drip (IV drip) attached to me. There was no drugs given to augment the contractions and no epidural. It’s all au natural ;) Therefore, I was allowed to eat and drink while I was in labour to give me some energy and keep myself hydrated. Yup, that was McDonald’s breakfast meal at 0520H. I also had a lot of dates in stock to eat just in case I was so much in pain and can’t even chew :D After the breakfast meal, I had a plate of char kuey tiow at around 8am :D

Throughout the labouring process, many people came to visit me.. my immediate family, in-laws family, ‘bestest’ friend forever, Dr Elly who was ObGyn in HUKM also dropped by to support me.

But no worries, none of them were inside the labour room when I was in the pool.. and all pictures were taken by my mom.. It’s kinda nice to be in the pool because you can move around to help to reduce the pain.. and warm water was really comfy. No, the pain doesn’t totally disappear, it is still there but slightly reduced. God gives you labour pain for a reason. It helps you to push the baby out. Why make it disappear? 

And my husband was in the pool with me when I was about to push the baby out.. Check out who else was in the pool?? Yellow duck!! Hahahha.. that’s the thermometer ok! Nope, not a toy!! Seems like my labour coach ni termenung lar pulak.. hahahha…

After 18 hours of labour, and 1 hour of pushing.. baby finally out at 2121H on 21/7/11.. The was the biggest joy in my life. My family and in-laws were there to celebrate the arrival of Sophea Isabella. She weigh 3.6kg with the length of 53cm.. She is the cutest baby girl I have seen ever. Well, that might be bias because she is my baby.. but never mind lar kan. You would say the same thing too to you baby kan!! Hhahhaha…

Aidiladha 2011

 Assalamualaikum wbt ~ mode budak baik nih :D

Hopefully everyone had a good time with family during Eid-Al-Adha.. In my family, hari raya haji is not really celebrated like Aidilfitri (meaning: no baju raya but raya food is still a must!) We dont really go around beraya sakan.. Just with close family members lazying around watching TV at home.. But this year, it’s meaningful for us because we are gonna do aqiqah for my little Bella.. Unfortunately Bella’s daddy didnt managed to make it to Bella’s aqiqah.. He was still in Istanbul, transit for a day from Algeria for an astronomy conference where he gave talk at the conference itself, schools and the biggest mosque is South Africa!! Work is work and life goes on. We had to do it without daddy..

First pic shows kitorg bergambar ngan kambing!! Seekor jer kambing Bella but since we don’t know which one is going to be hers, ambik jer lar tiga2 ekor :) Nak dekat takut.. kambing tu pun macam cuak nampak geng2 lembu diorg dah kena sembelih :D It was drizzling during that morning.. I had to cover B’s head with tudung. Nak pakai betul2, tudng tu jauh lebih besar dr Bella.. so, balut2 jer lar ;) Luckily when it was her kambing’s turn, the rain stopped..

My father yg sembelihkan kambing Bella himself.. Mommy and B just stand next to him :)

Bella behaved very well.. makin besar mata dia tgk darah kambing tu memancut-mancut. Must train her early nak jadi doktor, kena berani tgk darah!! Hahahha.. (obsessive mom!) So, that is our story on second raya day..

And on third raya haji morning, Bella’s daddy landed safely at KLIA :) alhamdullilah..

You do know raya haji is also called raya qurban, right? ;) Well, yes, we korban again on third raya when daddy is around.. this time, we ‘korban’kan rambut Bella.. Yes, our long due cukur jambul yg tak terbuat2 :) Tp taper, sunat jer kan buat majlis tu, yg penting rambut mesti cukur ;) There wasn’t actually any majlis cukur rambut Bella, we just went to the saloon and get the amoi to shave Bella’s hair.. She didn’t cry at all while that cute amoi was shaving her hair.. geli kot :D Hehhehe.. mommy Bella yang sayu tgk my baby girl dah botak!!

Anyway, this is the end result.. Bella sudah botak!! Macam citer Shaolin Soccer pun ada jugak kan!! :D Hahaha.. It took me a day to digest the fact that my baby girl is bald.. For one whole day, I just stare at her head until my husband asked me to stop doing that!! LoL.. She was a ‘mini me’ but now she looks like a real baby!!

Anyone has any petua nak bg rambut baby cepat tumbuh, cantik dan lebat? My mother made minyak kelapa herself, and asked me to put on her head.. Thats what I’m doing now.. Ada lagi yg nak share petua.. Come share with the others ;)

Mommy Talk: Cloth Diapers

Since we are on the topic about diapers.. let’s keep the ball rolling.. Are you using cloth diapers?

I have never heard about cloth diapers until I went to Baby Expo in MidValley somewhere early this year! See how ignorance I have been before this.. and that includes my friends with children who doesn’t use cloth diapers! Hahahah.. (Korang pun sama!! Alasan.. takde masa nak basuh.. :D ) After knowing about this cloth diapers, I have decided to use this as my baby’s daily diapers at home.

Reason #1: It comes in bright colours!! I love bright colours!! Memang cantik! Not need to wear pants anymore :)

Reason #2: The surface contact with my baby’s bottom is fleece. It is super soft, I dont have to worry about her skin.. It’s very comfy!!

Reason #3: I can reduce my long term cost on disposable diapers.. Well, knowing my husband, he wants 10 children.. hahahah.. better start saving from now!! :D

Reason #4: Save the earth, mommy! For Bella and other children!!

Reason #5: It’s made in Malaysia (support our local brand!!)

Unfortunately I can only use these cloth diapers during daytime because Bella wears long pants at night (therefore she has to use the disposable diapers..) and only started using when she is already about 2 month plus. I didn’t use it earlier because she was too small for the diapers despite the adjustable buttons.. She looks  funny like a baby stucked in a huge diaper ball!!

So far, I’ve been using these cloth diapers about almost a month and I love it!! During daytime, I need about 3 to 4 diapers including inserts. To those who is not familiar with cloth diapers, inserts are another layer of cotton piece cloth you insert (hence its name!) into the cloth diapers to enhance absorption. Apparently they have many types of inserts.. part tu I blum pandai lagi.. I only use the basic one.. I have no complaint and will continue using it until my next 10 children.. insyaAllah.. hehhehe..
